Play that Funky Music (White Boy) by Wild Cherry was released in 1976. It is part of the funk rock genre. This song is SUCH a bop. Wild Cherry did a really good job in bringing funk to the mainstream. The music just makes you want to get up and dance. There is a really impressive guitar solo in the middle and it I could see how it could influence many different artists today. When I hear this song it reminds me of jamming with my dad in the car. We would pull up to all of the fun times blasting this song. The thing is that my dad is not THAT old. This means that this song is such a classic, or a standard, that it was still a bop when my dad was a kid and it still is now-a-days too. This song just brings such a good vibe with it and I ten out of ten recommend pulling up to this song some time. Wild Cherry brought the funk for sure especially because it is still played today.
I love this song choice. Honestly "Play that Funky Music" is and will always be a classic. It gives so much energy, and I love how you were able to explain the type of feeling you get when listening to it. It's an amazing song, and it is definitely a song that has influenced today's generation of artists. Great song!
