Listening Blog: My Girl
My Girl by The Temptations was released in 1965. This song is SUCH a great song. It would probably be considered a soul or R&B song. It also sounds like it has a gospel vibe to it. If you haven't heard it then you probably are not cultured. Everyone definitely needs to listen to it. This song has such a groovy beat and just makes you feel good. In it he talks about how all he needs in his life is his girl in order to be happy. The lead singer almost has a old fashioned crooning sound to his singing, but it is also unique. Everything about this song is just so happy and you cant help singing along. This song reminds me of all of the warm spring days if you know what I mean, its just the vibe. I would also have to say that it could definitely be considered a standard based off of the fact that it is still played today. This type of music is just so good. I could see this song influencing songs like Stand by Me by Ben E. King, or plenty of other songs with this same style. If you're looking for some good songs I recommend listening to the radio based off of this song on spotify.

I love this song by The Temptations. its so calming and enjoyable. I also agree with you that this song is a great song!!!
ReplyDeleteI just listened to a really sad song for another blog, and listening to this one definitely cheered me up. I love that you said it reminds you of warm spring days! I didn’t necessarily make that specific of a connection, but I just thought that was awesome! It is definitely happy and uplifting. I think it’s such a feel-good song and I hope it stays around even longer.
ReplyDeleteBrittan, I like the description and relations that you put into this post on the song. I too think this could be an R&B song. I like how you even noticed the crooning sounds in the lead singers voice. Sometimes that is a little bit hard to notice
